ST ELPHIN´S Nursery held a teddy bears´ picnic to mark National Sure Start Month.

It was one of many nurseries throughout the county holding simultaneous events to raise awareness of the importance of education in the early years.

Vice principal of St Elphins, Rosemary Cuff, said: "Childcare settings have a vital role in supporting children and families.

"They give them the best start to their childs education."

Children enjoyed a morning of fun on Friday, with face painting, mask and teddy bear ear making and cooking teddy bear biscuits.

It culminated with the teddy bears picnic held in the schools grounds.

Information and advice was available for parents as part of their Lower School Open Morning."
